What is The Dental Implant Process?

Consultation
During your first visit, your periodontist will perform a comprehensive series of tests and exams to map your mouth. This will ensure the dental implant we craft will be perfect.
Bone Graft
If there isn’t enough bone to support the implant on its own, a bone graft is needed to surgically replace the missing bone. This will take an additional 4 to 6 months to heal.
Implant
Once there is enough bone to act as a foundation, your periodontist will implant a metal post directly into your jaw, where it will function exactly like a natural tooth root.
Healing
Over the next 3 to 6 months, your jaw will need to fully heal and fuse to the metal implant in a process known as osseointegration.
Abutment
Once the implant is fully secured to the bone, a metal piece called an abutment is connected to it. Sometimes the abutment can be attached at the same time as the implant.
Crown
Finally, the porcelain crown is attached to the abutment to complete your new tooth. The crown will look, feel, and behave just like your natural tooth did.

with your new and improved smile
At Gold Coast Dental Moreno Valley, we know that you want to love your smile. Our dental implants are custom made just for you, so you always get the most out of them for years to come. The benefits of tooth implants include: Improved appearance; by replacing your missing tooth with a porcelain implant, you can easily restore the natural look of your beautiful smile. Prevents bone loss; unlike other dental prosthetics, dental implants promote jaw bone generation. Boosted confidence and self-esteem; with an intact smile you can be proud of, you’ll never want to hide your
pearly whites again. Improved speech; loose dentures and missing teeth can cause speech problems like slurring or mumbling. This isn’t an issue with dental implants. Durable; with great dental care and oral hygiene, your porcelain dental implants can last you up to 25 or 30 years. Better dental health; replacing a missing tooth keeps its neighbors from shifting in place and allows easy access when brushing and flossing. Who is a good candidate for dental implants?
A good candidate for dental implants is a patient in good oral and overall health who needs a missing tooth restored. These candidates should have healthy gums and strong supporting bone to keep the implant firmly in place for decades to come. However, if you don’t have enough jawbone structure, you can still be a good candidate for implants with a bone graft procedure to restore any lost bone.
-
Are dental implants removable or do they stay in your mouth?
Dental implants are surgically attached to your mouth and fused to your bone, making them permanently secured and in no danger of falling out. Some denture implants, however, are partially removable. While the implant posts are still fully affixed to your jaw, the denture restorations that connect to them can be taken out for cleaning or letting your gums rest and breathe at night.
-
How much are dental implants?
Depending on a number of factors, the cost of your dental implants can vary. How many implant posts will be used and how many teeth will be replaced? Is bone graft surgery needed? What type of implant will be used? No matter the specific case of your implant treatment, however, our Moreno Valley dental office believes that great dental shouldn’t break the bank. We offer a number of flexible financing options to ensure you always get affordable dental implants.

How long does it take to heal from dental implant surgery?
After the initial surgery to surgically attach the implant post to your jaw, it will take between 3 and 6 months for your mouth to fully heal. At this point, you can progress to the next step of the procedure. The entire dental implant process lasts 6 to 8 months to complete. This schedule can be extended another 4 to 6 months if an additional bone graft surgery is needed beforehand.
-
Can you replace all your teeth with dental implants?
Dental implants are extremely flexible tooth replacement options, allowing you to restore anywhere between a single tooth or a full mouth. Full-mouth dental implants are typically denture implants permanently secured into place on either 4 or 6 implant posts. These are what are known as All-on-4 and All-on-6 dental implants, respectively.
-
Can you rebuild bone loss in gums?
After an extraction, the bone where the tooth had been will begin to deteriorate if left alone. Your mouth can tell that there is no tooth there, and it stops supplying as many nutrients to the bone since it doesn’t need to be as strong anymore. With dental implants, however, the metal post implanted into the jaw functions just like a natural tooth root would, allowing your bone to stay healthy and intact.
